Chin augmentation

SHORT ANSWER

Chin augmentation improves the projection and balance of the chin in relation to the nose and jawline. It can be done with a chin implant, bone repositioning (genioplasty), fat transfer or fillers, depending on anatomy and goals.

What are the options?

A chin implant is placed over the chin bone through an incision inside the mouth or under the chin. Genioplasty repositions the bone itself. Fillers or fat transfer can add volume without implants but may be less lasting.

How is the approach chosen?

The surgeon assesses the profile, bite and jaw structure, and often looks at the nose and neck at the same time, since facial balance is judged as a whole.

What is recovery like?

Swelling, bruising and tightness are expected for the first weeks. A soft diet and careful mouth hygiene are usually advised when the incision is inside the mouth.

Riskler nelerdir?

Risks include infection, implant shifting, asymmetry, numbness of the chin or lip, scarring and bone changes under an implant over time.

Chin augmentation in Turkey and Istanbul

Chin augmentation is often planned together with rhinoplasty by people considering facial surgery in Turkey, including Istanbul.

Questions worth asking before chin augmentation in Istanbul or elsewhere in Turkey:

  • Which option suits my profile best: implant, genioplasty or filler?
  • What material and size of implant will be used?
  • Where will the incision be and how will it be cared for?
  • How will follow-up be arranged once I am back home?

When to consult a doctor

Seek advice promptly for fever, increasing swelling, pus or a bad taste from the incision, or persistent numbness.
