Online consultation before surgery abroad
SHORT ANSWER
An online consultation lets you discuss your goals, history and options with a surgical team by video or message before travelling. It helps you prepare, but it cannot replace an in-person examination before the operation.
What happens in an online consultation?
You usually share photos, your medical history, medicines, allergies, previous operations and what you want to change. The team explains possible options, expectations and risks, and answers your questions.
What can it not do?
It cannot include a physical examination, tests or measurements. The surgeon will normally reassess you in person before the operation and may change the plan or advise against surgery.
How can I prepare?
List your questions, gather your medical history and medicines, take clear photos if asked and be fully honest about your health, smoking and previous surgery. Missing information can affect safety.
What should I get afterwards?
Ask for the proposed procedure, surgeon, costs and aftercare plan in writing, and for any pre-operative tests you need to complete before travel.
Online consultations for surgery in Turkey and Istanbul
An online consultation is often the first contact with a team in Istanbul or elsewhere in Turkey. Treat it as a way to check how openly your questions are answered.
Questions worth asking in an online consultation before surgery in Turkey:
- Who is the surgeon who will operate, and can I speak to them directly?
- Which information or tests do you need from my own doctor?
- What could change after the in-person examination?
- What happens if the surgeon decides I am not suitable?
When to consult a doctor
Online advice is not a diagnosis. Speak to your own doctor about any medical condition, regular medicines or concerns before travelling for surgery.
