GLOSSARY · TURKEY & TRAVEL
What is included in a surgery package in Turkey?
SHORT ANSWER
A surgery package in Turkey usually bundles the surgeon, facility and anaesthesia fees with some travel elements, such as transfers and hotel nights. Contents differ between providers, so the written list of inclusions and exclusions matters.
What is usually included?
Packages commonly list the surgeon’s fee, hospital or clinic costs, anaesthesia, a hospital stay, pre-operative tests, medicines, garments, airport transfers, hotel nights and a coordinator or translator. Not every package includes all of these.
What may not be included?
Flights, extra hotel nights if the stay is extended, meals, travel insurance, additional tests, revision surgery and the cost of treating a complication may sit outside the package.
What should be in writing?
The procedure, surgeon, facility, total cost, payment schedule, what is excluded, refund and cancellation terms, and the aftercare arrangements should all be written down before you pay a deposit.
Why compare carefully?
Two packages with different prices may not include the same things. Comparing like with like, including follow-up, gives a more accurate picture.
Surgery packages in Turkey and Istanbul
Package contents vary between clinics in Istanbul and the rest of Turkey. Asking the same questions of each provider makes the comparison easier.
Questions worth asking about a surgery package in Turkey:
- Exactly which fees are covered, and which are not?
- How many hotel nights are included, and what if I need to stay longer?
- What happens if the surgeon advises changing the plan after assessment?
- What aftercare and follow-up are covered once I am home?
